Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy comprises law firms and consultants across over 50 offices worldwide. With a recognized history of leading the industry in diversity, the firm’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Committee seeks new ways to support and ensure the provision of a diverse community where employees have access to equal opportunities.

In June 2021, Fragomen’s Kochi office introduced a new program to provide training and employment opportunities to employees from different backgrounds. The Special Training and Employability Program (STEP) was first launched in India in March 2021 when the managing partner noticed a need for Fragomen to become more accessible.

In partnership with several NGOs, the STEP program identified candidates with limited access to corporate training and employment. These candidates are paired with a program coordinator and provided training that develops computer skills and attention to detail. After the training, job opportunities will be offered to qualified trainees. With their newly acquired skill set, trainees have a chance to explore other means of employment.
